“Why does my business need a blog?”
I get asked this question all the time. When I first started writing blogs, I thought they were just a way for people to write about what they did that day. As I read more of the “high profile” blogs out there, I realized they were so much more. These bloggers were sharing information and products, not their day's events.
For a business to really profit from a blog, you have to write content that is engaging, informative, and consistent. But, this blog isn’t about how to write a blog. Keep reading to learn all the ways a blog can help your business.
Increase awareness for your brand.
Before reading this blog post, did you have any idea who I was? Chances are, you didn’t. The same is probably true for you and your brand. If you aren’t sharing your products, thoughts, and experiences with potential customers, they will never know you exist.
To build brand awareness and a good-sized readership, try to blog once a month. At least. The more often you blog, the better. But, it’s also important to be consistent with your posting schedule. With my crazy schedule, I’m lucky to blog every few weeks. Do what works best for you and your business.
Gain your customers trust and respect.
I have a hard time buying from businesses I don’t know. That doesn’t mean I won’t buy from them, but I need a little convincing before I do. I usually stalk a business website and blog posts to get a feel for who they are. The more information they share, the better I feel.
For me, the businesses I trust most are ones I feel a connection with. A blog is a great way to show your potential customers your personality and the human side of your brand. When you write your post, write as if you were talking to a friend. Keep it casual and fun.
Increase your business revenue.
How many times a day do you search for information or products on Google? If you’re like me, it’s a lot! I work hard for my money and I’m not quick to get rid of it unless I know the product is worth it. Your customers are the same way. They want to know that what they are getting is what they need and want.
When you write a blog post about your products, you are giving customers information that will make them informed buyers. If your product meets all their needs, they will pick yours. Hopefully!
Use it to introduce new products or services.
Have a new product you want to offer your customers? Share it in a blog post. Write about how it will benefit them, what made you create it, and the creation process. You can even use a blog post to create a step-by-step guide for how to use your new product.
Even though writing a blog is a time-consuming task, it can really benefit your business. Search engines will use your content to help more people find your website. (Stay tuned for a post on blog SEO in the future). Blogging is not a get rich quick deal. You have to put in the effort to see the reward. After a little time, you will get there.
If you have your own blog, how has it helped your business?
